How to Increase FPS in Roblox

2 min read Updated

Roblox is bound by the slowest part of your system — usually the CPU, then the GPU, then RAM. The fixes below give the biggest FPS gains for the least effort, and none of them risk your account.

In-game settings

Open the Esc menu, choose Settings, and apply these:

  • Graphics Mode: Manual. Auto is too generous on weak hardware.
  • Graphics Quality: drag the slider to 1–4 to start, then raise until you see a drop.
  • Camera Mode: Classic uses fewer resources than Follow.
  • Performance Stats: turn on while testing so you can see the FPS counter.
  • Reduce Motion: optional, helps a little on older devices.

Windows tweaks

  1. Settings → System → Display → Graphics → add RobloxPlayerBeta.exe and set it to High performance.
  2. Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → On.
  3. Settings → System → Power → set Power Mode to Best performance while playing.
  4. Close apps in the system tray you don't need.

Drivers and updates

Out-of-date graphics drivers can cost you 30% or more in FPS. Download the latest from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel directly. Windows Update is not the right source for GPU drivers.

Don't fall for FPS "boosters"

Most third-party tools that promise to boost Roblox FPS either do nothing (just tweak the registry the same way the steps above do) or are malware. Some are flagged as exploits and will get your account banned. Stick to the official settings.

Common mistakes

  • Running Roblox in a browser window while expecting maximum FPS — the desktop client is consistently faster.
  • Leaving Discord, Chrome, and OBS open at the same time.
  • Trusting YouTube tutorials that recommend FPS unlockers — those are exactly the tools Roblox detects.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my FPS capped at 60?
60 is Roblox's default frame cap to save battery and reduce overheating. Newer Roblox clients let you raise it from settings; on older builds the cap is enforced.
Will lowering resolution help?
Yes, dramatically, on integrated graphics. On a discrete GPU the difference is smaller.
Does VSync hurt FPS in Roblox?
VSync caps FPS at your monitor's refresh rate. If your monitor is 60 Hz and you can hit 120 FPS without it, turn it off in your GPU control panel for Roblox specifically.
Do I need a gaming PC for Roblox?
No. Roblox runs on most laptops made in the last 7 years. A gaming PC just lets you play the heaviest games with maxed graphics.
