How to Create a Roblox Account

2 min read Updated

Creating an account takes about a minute. The choices you make during signup — especially the birthday and email — affect what features your account gets and how recoverable it is. Take an extra 30 seconds to do it right.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to roblox.com and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your real birthday. Roblox uses this to set age-appropriate defaults and chat permissions. Lying makes your account harder to recover and may unlock features that shouldn't be available.
  3. Choose a username you're willing to keep. Changing it later costs Robux.
  4. Pick a strong, unique password (12+ characters, not used anywhere else).
  5. Choose your gender (optional) and click Sign Up.
  6. Add an email or phone number for account recovery, ideally a parent's email if the account is for a child.

Why a recovery email matters

Without a verified email or phone, a stolen account is almost impossible to get back. Add one immediately after signup under Account Info → Add Email.

Turn on two-step verification

Go to Settings → Security and turn on 2-Step Verification by email or authenticator. This single step protects against the vast majority of account takeovers. See our guide on protecting your Roblox account.

For parents creating a child's account

Use the child's real birthday so age-appropriate filters apply. Set the recovery email to a parent's email. After signup, set a parent PIN under Settings → Parental Controls.

Common mistakes

  • Reusing a password from another website — the single biggest cause of hijacked Roblox accounts.
  • Skipping the email step. An account with no email can't be recovered.
  • Choosing a username with personal information.
