Roblox lets you control chat at three levels: who can chat with you, who can message you, and whether chat is on at all inside games. You can also block individual users from the chat bubble itself.
Restrict who can chat with you
- Open Settings → Privacy.
- Under Contact Settings, set Who can chat with me in app to Friends or No one.
- Set Who can chat with me in experiences to Friends or No one.
- Save. The change takes effect on your next game join.
Turn chat off completely
Set both chat options above to No one. Or, on an account with parental controls, the parent can lock chat off so the child can't re-enable it.
Block a specific user
- Click the user in your friends list or in-game player list.
- Choose Block User.
- Their messages disappear immediately, and they can't follow you or join your games.
Block users from a chat bubble
Inside a game, tap a chat bubble and choose the block option. This is the fastest way to silence someone mid-game.
